How to cool server racks and data center cabinets

The temperature inside the cabinet can vary due to various reasons, and it is essential to maintain the temperature. Different types of equipment are used to cool the server racks and data center cabinets like inbuild fans, ac but most effective are the self-cooling racks which do not need any additional equipment. Let us discuss few ways of cooling the racks and data cabinets-

  • Airflow: A proper airflow should be maintained; a cabinet with perforated doors is preferred because they help achieve better cooling. The fans will help the hot air pushed out through the perforated doors and make the system cool.
  • Cooling needed: it is essential to determine the type of conventional cooling you need for your system. There are three types of cooling:
  1. Natural cooling: In this process, the air moves from a hotter place to a cooler one naturally, but this is not effective as many elements hinder the airflow. And due to minor temperature differences, the airflow is barely minimum, making this method as least effective.
  2. Forced convection cooling: In this cooling method, heat is transferred from a higher temperature place to a lower one with the help of fans or coolers. The fans or coolers divert the flow of air, making the system exist.
  3. When a natural or forced convection system does not work, you have to add an air-conditioning system for the cooling process, but it’s a bit expensive.
  4. Apart from installing various devices for cooling, it is better to buy self-cooling racks to cool themselves. These racks save your time as well as money! The amount of money and time which goes into repairing cooling equipment or maintain them is saved due to these racks. They are not as costly as the pieces of equipment combined and relieve you from tension.
  5. For choosing the correct rack, it is also essential to select the best manufacturer. Netrack India provides its customers with a best-in-class server rack cooling solution for various needs.

We find Self-cooling racks the best solution for cooling server racks and cabinets from all the cooling methods. Netrack provides self-cooling server racks solutions for distinct needs. If you want further information regarding rack cabinets, you can visit the following site-

How to cool server racks and cabinets

It is essential to keep the server racks and cabinets cool to prevent heating, leading to several hazardous consequences. Excessive heating of server racks can cause severe downtime, which can affect your work. The heat produced from the CPU and various equipment is considered waste energy and needed to be taken care of. There are several ways to cool down your server racks and cabinets like-

  • It is important to ensure good air circulation inside the server cabinets: It is advised to at least have 63% air circulation through the cabinets in both ways for balanced air circulation. The air circulation can be achieved by a perforated sheet or totally an open cabinet.
  • Determine the convention: it is important to maintain a convention balance inside the cabinets or racks. The convention can be achieved in various ways-

The first way to achieve is natural convention wherein the air will move from a warmer environment to a cooler one. The airflow will maintain the internal temperature, but this method is not very effective as there is not a large difference between the temperatures of the two, and sometimes the airflow is minimal.

The second way is forced convection cooling- it is achieved by the help of fans and coolers inside the cabinets, which will guide the flow of air from a warmer place to a cooler one, maintaining the cabinets' and racks temperature balance.

The third one is active convention cooling, in which an air conditioner is used for cooling down the equipment with the help of a closed-loop structure. The air conditioners' capacity depends on your data center's needs and the number of equipment it has.

  • The placement of equipment is also essential: it is always advisable to leave 20% of the total space in the data center so that the equipment can breathe. There should be proper gapping between the equipment, and they should be placed after leaving some space from the front and back.
  • Monitor the temperature: It is crucial to check the temperature of the data center. There are two ways of doing that- the first one is the manual one wherein you simply put a thermometer and check the temperature, it is fine for a small business, but it will be of no use on a larger level. The second one uses a thermostat, which automatically detects the temperature and switches on the fans when the temperature goes up from the determined one.

There are several companies too which provide server racks cooling solutions! That means you don’t have to install equipment or find a way to cool down your servers. The server racks and cabinets will do it for you. Netrack is one such server racks manufacturing company providing these racks called as iRacks. These are innovative and solve most of the problems.

Intelligent server racks

The name of the intelligent server racks is not unlike the “smart” in our phones or other devices we are accustomed to, and even lives up to its reputation if not surpasses it. Servers are the most significant aspect of your data center operation and having them organized and in good working order is critical to the business. However equally important to your entire setup is the way you house them. Servers need to be stacked or racked in an organized manner to enable easy maintenance, for troubleshooting and for upgrades, when required. The PDUs, all the enormous amounts of cabling the switches, and the cooling system all need to be fitted, synchronized,  and housed to keep them functioning well. Let us first at ook at the importance of the air flow technology and its effectiveness in the server enclosure you need. It is critical to the efficient functioning of the servers and all that it encloses to function at optimum efficiency. We all are aware of the heating up of working electronic equipment and this is to a much greater degree in a server. This is not the case when the contained equipment is getting overheated and close to burn out. So your air-conditioning for the server enclosure needs to be efficient to keep the equipment cool and working at optimum efficiency.
Next let us look at the cabling and wiring contained in the cabinet; the intelligent server rack enables you to organize cables, color code them and maintain an organized cable system.  All this valuable equipment needs to stay safe and secure from any tampering or malpractice, and to that end the rack serves well, with locked front and back doors.Ideally a server rack should provide you room to  grow and to that end our server rack is well suited. Maintenance and service time should not be an ordeal that you hate to undertake. In the data centre business having connectivity both power and data is critical to the very business itself. You cannot afford any downtime, in a well organized environment every aspect of it needs to be at optimum at all times and to prevent any downtime your PDUs need to be paid special attention at the time you are investing in them. They enable you to even remotely monitor power and regulate as an when the need arises. Air flow and cooling technology is a significant aspect that you cannot overlook. Ideally a server or dozens of them functioning from even a shelf in a wall, however, but defeats the purpose of an efficient data centre. A good airflow system with the right technology will keep your systems at top efficiency and even protect them from harmful humidity settling on sensitive components. Although a simple four post rack enables you to organize the servers and cabling and even the luxury of free-flowing ambient air, it does not meet all the needs of the sophisticated technically advanced equipment you are investing in.

With all of its advanced, sophisticated, technology that you are investing in you need to have equally advanced equipment to house this equipment. This is a rack that matches all the sophistication of today’s cutting edge technology. The airflow technology is engineered and deployed to the greatest precision by the best technology available to man. You are right if you say the servers are what matters most and there is no disputing that, however, the rack, even the kind of rack you use needs to serve you all that the sensitive equipment needs to support its optimum efficiency at all times. This ensures an efficient business delivery in your data center business and beyond.
